2020 RELEASE: DIBS
“This endeavor started with a completely digital experimental song. No real instruments. That was weird, but amazingly efficient. Once again using only the iRig /iPhone//iPad setup. There was no initial interest, nor intention to make a retro song or 80’s themed album .When something comes out sounding that way, it’s completely natural. I was there. I lived it. I felt it. So there’s really no trying, it just happens from time to time. I also didn’t force ukulele into every idea. If it fit , great! If not, oh well.”
“The concept, however, was premeditated. We used to kick around band, album, and song names. Dibs was in there. The image of a quarter on the arcade cabinet face was always in the back of my mind, floatin’ around, just waiting for the right moment. ”
“There were moments that felt dumb or uncomfortable. That’s when I went with it. The 80’s was a series of awkward and cringe worthy moments. At least that was my experience. ”
“Even though this was recorded during a pandemic, this is not a pandemic album. Though the mood is definitely reminiscent of tremendous loss of loved ones, both globally and in our personal lives.”
